After leaving the Sisterlock Brunch Blaqkofi and I decided to stop in the MAC store and pick up a couple of our favorite items. And....what do ya know...how be it we ran into this cute mother/daughter duo who had Sisterlocks!!!
They were just beautiful and they accepted our invitation to have their picture taken. Once again, I believe I'm getting like my friend and "Lock Stalker" Brunsli!
Mom says her daughter who is 12 is having difficulty at shcool with kids who tease her about her hair. I wish I could be twelve again and go to school just one day with her to have her back! Or better yet, I wish I could send Praline with her and the other 12 year olds could have a double dose of nappyism!
Blaq and I encouraged her and told her how beautiful she looked with her Sisterlocks. I'm sure one day those little chics at school will look back and wish they were brave enough to do what she did at such an early age!

I second that, LaChanda! Great post.
What, you had more SL fun without me??
I applaud you both for your lock-stalker skills.
They both are too cute, and thanks for being a loc stalker! I was natural at that age too, so that is dear to my heart! I'm glad you encouraged her to keep her hair up
Our little girls need our love and support in helping them keep their heads up! My daughter hasn't told me of any really bad comments, but I know they're out there. As pretty as locks are on our little girls, I really think the mean-spirited comments stem from jealousy.
The young lady is beautiful with her locks. I am sure she needs the encouragement because children can be so cruel whenever someone is doing their own thing. My son has locks and he is the only person at his school with them, but he loves them. I know the kids tease but he says if they don't like them don't look.. I heard one boy calling him mop head the other day, when I was dropping him off. I know it all stems from jealousy, because he is brave enough to be himself. I told him, people will always find something to heckle you about so you just have to be happy with yourself.
Wow you came upon more SL. I'm sure that the encouragement from you all really helped.
lol, you are always running into somebody with SLs.
I totally agree with you LaChanda. I will rejoice when I see the day that as African Americans, young and old, we realize that beautiful hair comes in many forms and that you don't have to have a perm, straight hair, or naturally curly hair to be beautiful. It is a tragedy how much in bondage the African American race is about our hair, skin color and overall image of ourselves. I am so glad I am finally free from that bondage :) Thanks for sharing.
Little girl, let them laugh, keep your eyes on the prize(EDUCATION) and as the years roll by you can show them (Scholarships)! You can't please everyone,so why not please yourself? Laugh along with them to show them it doesn't phase you, and rock your hairstyles girl! I gaurantee you they will get bored and move on.
...Cause when you have confidence in yourself, people have no choice but to respect you.
