My "Blood" Sister is Locked!!

First, can you guess what these two are???

They are two of my favorite Louisiana treats and since I went home for the holidays I ate like a fat pig!!

Yep, I said it and had a jolly good time doing it.

Picture on the left is Turkey Boudin and the pic to the right is my Mom's homemade Pralines (pecan candy). I can't blog about all of my favorites but I wanted to share these two with my blog family. Talk about good!

Also, good lock news, while home I locked my blood sister Mrs Dee using the Nappy tool. I know some people say we look nothing alike but guess what that's ok we are still sisters and I love her dearly. Why don't we favor each other? Let me explain, I am the only child from my mother's first marriage and later my Mom remarried and had three children with her second husband who also raised me. I always say I got the best of both worlds mom, dad's family and my step-father's family. We blend very well.

It took us 13 hours over a two day period and she was excited the entire time. MrsDee (my sister) has been waiting for a year to get her locks, she cut off all of her perm and grew out her natural hair. She also has Lupus so the medication sometime takes a toll on her but she was determined to do her thing. She has 309 locks and her gray hair shines through nicely.

Right now she is working on creating her blog so I'll be informing you all as soon as she is ready to publish it.

Hey, did I mention how much I love Louisiana and my Locks???? Posted by Picasa

Her locks look really great. You did a very good job. I wish I knew how to start locks from a tool. My hubby just recently started the loc journey but he had to go the traditional route because I didn't know how to start his locks using a tool, I wasn't sure to get the lacth hook or the nappylock tool. I wasn't aware that you can start locks using the nappylock tool do they teach you that in their book? I know having his locks latched is a better method for him beacuse he has dry scalp and he always wants to wash his hair! Sorry this reply is so long but do you have any advice?

Actually, yes I do have advice and thanks for asking.

Since I was taught how to start a SL I used the method and when I got close to the root I tightened to the scalp using the Nappy Tool. Now, technically my sister has the reverse 4 SL pattern but I used the Nappy tool and therefore I cannot officially say that she has Sisterlocks since I am not a consultant. However, they are no Step Sister Locks either...they are beautiful locks period. And as soon the class is offered in Texas I just me sign up.

About the Nappy Tool, they offer an extensive package explaining their process and the cost is $200 fo r the instructional package. You may want to look into it, I love that tool.

Hope this helps!

Home, great food, family, locking your sister - how abundantly blessed you were this holiday season. I know that you and MrsDee will always remember this special time.

I continue to learn so much about you, C. I too am the oldest and my sisters have a different father than me.People are often surprised to learn that we're sisters. But as my mother would threaten anyone anytime them came to us with that "step sister" stuff - she'd say, as long as you all came from my womb, you're sisters and brothers! Amen. I think I'll post about that! Thanks for sharing, C.
