The 35 hour class is over and I now hold my Braiders certification. What did I learn?? Sterilization, sterilization and sterilize even more. I was able to practice twisting locks, cornrolls and adding hair to braids. Much of which confirms what I already know how to do, but a nice refresher.
I don't really like adding hair to braids that but if I did it I'd be real careful not to put too much tension at the base of the braids which can cause hair loss. Then, one locking pattern made from twists and twisting to maintain locks.
After taking the class I'm sure that the state only really wants to make a little change off of us folks to do what we know how to do with our own hair and most importantly the prevention of spreading infectious diseases.
I'm happy and now I can feel good about maintaining locks and also starting new heads. My goal is only four to five people a month. What a nice hobby to do something I like. I'm now well on my way to officially and state certified maintaining and installing tool assisted locks and braids.
Thanks again everyone for your support and encouragement!

Congratulations!!
congratulations!
I've been searching the web since 7pm trying to figure out what to do to my hair. I've been natural for 2yrs and 9 months, and I am scheduled to throw in the towel (get a perm) @ 11:30am today. Looking at sisterlocks, i've considered cancelling my appointment, but from what i've heard they are really expensive. I am a stay home mom and have afforded to get my hair professionally done (pressed) maybe twice in the past two years.I have two daughters ( 2& 6mo), and really want to set an example to teach them how to be proud of their glory(I love your daughter's confidence in her natural beauty), but I find it hard to do that myself. I am ashamed to admit that most of the time I am so embarrassed and just fed up with my "natural hair", I have and still do avoid taking pictures with my beautiful new babies. In a last attempt to press on, I would like to know when you will start doing locks that are similar to SL, and around how much you will charge. My hair is very thick, and maybe just above my shoulders. Sorry, but i am too sleepy to proof read. Once again congrats on your accomplishment.
Congrats!
kudos to you creyole! and a hearty congratulations! i am so glad to hear that your certification class really preached the doctrine of sterilization because i don't think that most people are aware of how easily infectious diseases can be spread nor their effect on a head full of locs. i wish you the best with your new hobby! you go girl!
